Paul Coletti has performed at over 1500 solo and chamber music concerts throughout Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Australia. Specifically, he has concertized at the Sydney Opera House, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Il Teatro Colon, Suntory Hall, and with the Berlin Philharmonic. His discography includes over 30 CDs, some of which have won international awards and prizes. Chief among them is Hyperion's much-honored English Music for Viola . Released on CD and DVD, Coletti's The Last Typhoon has reached No.1 on classical music charts in Japan. He has directed music videos and collaborated with Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy. His compositions have been heard worldwide, and are published by Oxford University Press. On the podium, Coletti has conducted the New Japan Philharmonic in Tokyo. As a television personality, Coletti is producer of The Viola Show , and is a frequent guest on Classical Arts, CNN, and NHK. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland to Italian parents, Paul Coletti has lived in the United States for over 20 years. He studied at the International Menuhin Music Academy with Alberto Lysy, Sandor Vegh and Lord Yehudi Menuhin, and continued at the Banff Center and at the Juilliard School with Dorothy Delay and Felix Galimir. He was appointed Head of Strings at the University of Washington at age 25. He has taught master classes on 5 continents. Many of his students have enjoyed international careers as soloists, professors, orchestra principals, and as President of the American Viola Society. After residing for 14 years in Manhattan, Mr. Coletti moved to Los Angeles and is currently a Professor at the Colburn School of Performing Arts. He also heads the chamber music program at the University of California, Los Angeles.
